Crann na Beatha / Tree of Life

One of the most enduring symbols in Celtic tradition. 

It represents the deep connection between heaven, earth,  the underworld and the interconnectiveness of Life. 

The Tree of Life symbolises connection,  with roots reaching into three underworld,  trunk grounded in earth and branches reaching to the heavens.

In early Ireland, every settlement was believed to have a sacred tree at is centre. Cutting down a clans sacred tree was considered a devastating act,  symbolising the destruction of that community's spirit.
