John Mc Carthy has been woodturning for over 25 years. He produces functional and artistic work from his workshop in Nohoval, Co. Cork. He uses locally sourced timber that has come from trees that have been felled by storms or as a result of disease. He uses simple flowing forms in an attempt to display and enhance the natural beauty of the wood. With meticulous skill, John transforms native Irish timber, sustainably sourced from storms or disease, into exquisite works of art. Each piece showcases the wood's unique character and his passion for craftsmanship.
