Art Quilt - Salut Printemps!

This piece is inspired by the colours and burst of life in Spring. As the earth reawakens, new growth is bright and lively and sings with new colour.

The pattern is constructed in the style of a tradidional patchwork pattern called 'Drunkard's Path', but reimagined in a contemporary way through the double gradation of colours. There are 640 individually cut pieces with hundred of different colours selected from the artists carefully curated collection of fabric, either purchased, found, and often hand-dyed. The back of the piece is made from hand-dyed cotton velvet, dyed specifically for this project to reflect the colours seen on the front. The title is taken from a piece of 'Impressionist music' which translates as 'Hello Spring!.
