Sarah Buckley

Sarah Buckley is a visual artist based in North Cork. Working mainly in textiles while also incorporating sculpture and installation, Sarah’s work is a personal exploration of childhood memory, trauma, experience and identity. Sarah graduated with a BA in Visual Art (Sherkin Island) in 2018 and completed a Special Award in Textiles (Level 8) in the Crawford College of Art and Design graduating in 2024. Her work has been exhibited in Ireland and the UK and she received an Arts Council Agility Award in 2021.

She was curator for EMERGE, an exhibition of newly graduated artists work by Cork Craft and Design in August 2024. Since January 2024, Sarah has been focusing on her practice full time while also facilitating workshops with adults and children in stitch, embroidery and textile art. She was awarded a Cork County Council Artist in Schools residency in March 2025 to work with 3rd class in St Mary's Convent Primary School in Mallow. She has facilitated 'Make or Break' workshops in the HSE and County Councils through Sample Studios and Creative Ireland. She also participated in the Creative Careers programme run by Sample Studios with 6th class and TY students. She is a member of Cork Craft and Design, Sample Studios and Design and Crafts Council Ireland.

Her first solo show 'Tethered' is running in the Signal Arts Centre, Bray in May and is scheduled for Blackwater Valley Makers, Fermoy for July/August as part of Cork Craft Month. Sarah is passionate about sharing her love of all things textiles with adults and children, encouraging participants of her workshops to explore their creativity through fabric, taking time out for themselves to use their hands and discover the benefits of stitching.
