Cork Craft Month EMERGE Exhibition August 2026

Location: The Gallery at No.46 Grand Parade

Curator Fee: €1,400

Term of contract: Late April – Mid September 2026

Overview:

Cork Craft & Design wishes to contract a dynamic and committed emerging Curator who will play a key role in delivering the organisation's EMERGE Exhibition for Cork Craft Month August 2026.

EMERGE is an exhibition that celebrates the work of graduating makers from Cork’s five art colleges, embracing them in the emergent days of their craft careers as part of the community of Irish craft and design.

About the organisation:

Cork Craft & Design (CCD) is a membership organisation representing professional and semi-professional craftspeople living and working across Cork City and County. CCD coordinates  Cork Craft Month, which takes place in August showcasing the immense quality of craft and design that exists in the county of Cork. With over 99 events including exhibitions, workshops,  demonstrations and craft trails CCM is an event not to be missed.

Key responsibilities:

● Working within the budget provided by CCD for the exhibition.

● Defining the theme of the exhibition.

● Planning, development and implementation of annual CCD EMERGE Exhibition

● The curator will prepare the open call to prospective participants in the exhibition

● The curator has responsibility for liaison with the organiser or owner of the venue

● The curator will ensure that signage and information will be organised for the exhibition

● The curator will create content and oversee the EMERGE social media page

● The curator will organise the selection of work based on craftsmanship, design and

excellence in making and communicate with all applicants

● The curator will organise the invigilation rota

● The curator will organise the installation of the exhibition ensuring that all hanging and display arrangements are in place.

● The curator will design the exhibition space with curatorial direction in keeping with the Craft values of CCD

● Chosen candidate will report directly to the CCM Festival Director
